2025 Green Energy / Hardware Shelved

Zflow

A regenerative wind-charging system for electric bikes. Real market gap, real prototype, and an honest answer about why it didn't ship.

The premise

Electric bikes are everywhere now: food delivery riders, older commuters, casual urban riders. Range anxiety and charging logistics are the two friction points that keep coming up. Any technology that adds even modest range without changing the charging routine is commercially valuable.

Zflow's idea: capture the wind a moving bike already passes through and convert it back into battery charge.

The honest result

I went through the concept, did the maths, sketched the hardware, and prototyped enough to see the answer: the energy recoverable from passive airflow at typical e-bike speeds is too low to be worth the drag and weight you'd add to capture it. The market gap is real. The physics doesn't close it at this scale.

So I shelved it. That's the lesson. Killing your own project early is a skill. The market was right, the maths wasn't, and refusing to admit that costs you years.
